Just as many retirees were wondering if they would receive a New Year’s gift in the form of financial aid this year as well, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that he would see the Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance, “to surprise others , our retirees, with a small gift “.

The president did not specify when senior citizens could expect this “bonus”, but noted that Serbia has no liquidity problems and announced an increase in the salaries of health workers and public sector employees, as well as possible additional allowances for the retired.

In previous years, pensioners received one-time assistance, mainly before the New Year holidays. For example, in 2019, on November 4, the payment of a one-off aid of 5,000 dinars began, and on that occasion 85 million euros were allocated from the budget for a total of 1.7 million pensioners.

During 2016 and 2017, the one-time support to pensioners was also paid on the eve of the New Year holidays, and then each pensioner received 5,000 dinars. The oldest also received financial assistance of 3,000 dinars in December 2018. That year, the government increased pensions in the range of five to 22.5 percent.

Pensioners received an increase in pensions both last year and this year, and an increase was also announced for next year.

Pensions 400 euros until 2025.

Around 1.7 million pensioners should expect higher incomes in the new year, because an increase in pensions according to the Swiss formula has been announced for 2021, by 5.9 percent. After the increase, the average pension will increase from the current 27,769 dinars to 29,407 dinars, or 1,638 dinars.

Practically, from 2021, instead of 10,000 dinars of pension, retirees will receive about 600 more dinars, while those with the highest incomes (above 100,000) will have an increase of at least 6,300 dinars.

Pensions will grow next year according to the agreed model: the Swiss formula, which includes adjusting the earnings of older citizens with 50 percent inflation and 50 percent growth in average wages, and the government Serbian has announced a new model starting in 2022 that would allow for even greater growth.

The goal is for the average pension to reach 400 euros in 2025.

Salaries are 5 percent higher

Starting January 1, health care workers’ wages will increase by 5 percent and all others in the public sector by 3.5 percent.

Starting April 1, everyone will have a five percent pay increase, and last week, health workers received a one-time aid in the amount of 10,000 dinars.

You have a dilemma: how much will your pension be. You can calculate it yourself, and an example shows that for 40 years of work and a salary of 50,000 dinars, the pension is around 260 euros per month.
