The Kovid data clearly show that we have a serious epidemiological situation, with a slight tendency to decrease the number of patients, but everything looks like a picture “one step forward, two steps back,” said epidemiologist Branislav Tiodorović. At the press conference after the Crisis Staff session, Tiodorović said he was confident that there would be no further concessions of measures for the New Year, because the results did not show the expected downward trend in the number of patients. He adds that new measures will be considered on Monday. Today the work of shopping centers and service sectors is allowed for the weekend until 8:00 p.m.
“We had a constructive session today, the medical part of the Crisis Staff continues to think that there can be no concessions. We have just talked about the objective justification that the weekend can somehow allow to supply the population, to provide services. that I can buy gifts for the new year, so we still have a justified idea to use this weekend in the sense that we work until 8pm in the malls, in the service sector, to bring less pressure on purchases and give it more time ”, Tiodorovic emphasized.
However, he says there will be more rigorous controls in shopping centers, to see if the measures are respected.
“Their covid guards must work in those centers, because it was noticed that a number does not respect that, it will be strictly punished,” he added.
Tiodorović also says that the decision to “square the space per user” was reviewed in the crisis staff session.
“The mistake was to make it 4m2 per person, so you had in Usce that at the entrance it says that 15,000 people are allowed in the building, that is impossible, it does not correspond to reality. We raised that limit to 9m2, to guarantee safety and reduce the risk of a possible infection ”, said the epidemiologist.
No one has permission
When asked how some restaurants are already running ads for New Year’s Eve, and even an open-air concert in Zlatibor is being advertised, Tiodović said that none of them received any consent for such a thing.
“Whoever decided to sell the arrangements, such a decision does not exist, I know the position of colleagues in the medical field, and I believe that the majority of the Crisis Staff thinks that yes, that we are not going to make something like a decision to relax measures and enable an organized New Year’s celebration. On Monday about that, then we will cut, but I’m sure there will be no positive decisions, ”Tiodorović emphasized.
Tiodorovic also says that the situation is especially difficult in large covid centers, which are “overworked and in difficult conditions.”
“We all expected to have a better tendency to move in terms of decreasing the number of patients and creating the conditions so that some more measures could be relaxed. As things stand, we cannot say that … We are aware that the health system is under pressure. the population is on the verge of patience, but we must find sufficient strength to be prepared in the coming days and months to fully implement the measures, think of ourselves and those who accompany us, in order to ensure, together with the start of vaccination, achieving herd immunity, only with 60 percent of the immunity carried out will we have a better perspective ”, estimates Tiodorović.
Tiodorović also says that vaccination “runs its course” and that the National Immunization Group, with which they are in permanent contact, takes care of that.
Immunologists and molecular biologists in Serbia have not yet determined the presence of the mutated coronavirus, as it appeared in Britain, Tiodorović added.

“Of which 40 are in the intensive care unit and require some type of oxygen support, which means that some have masks, non-invasive ventilation, and several of them are on mechanical ventilation, that is, a respirator,” he added .
The director explains that this health center also cares for patients with corona complications.
“We have acute surgical pathologies such as complications of the crown, they are operated on, patients are also placed stents if they have a myocardial infarction, as well as gastroscopy for gastric bleeding,” he says.
Zdravkovic explains that when entering Serbia, our citizens must either have a negative PCR test or remain in isolation for 10 days.
“If they don’t have a PCR test, upon entering the country, the electronic system generates travel document data and puts the person under medical supervision, in quarantine. If they want to end the quarantine, a person must do a PCR test in Serbia and if it is negative. ” , the electronic system removes the person from the self-isolation measure, forwards that information to the Ministry of the Interior and to the health inspection ”, explains the doctor.
