The Bosnia and Herzegovina Prosecutor’s Office has filed a formal indictment against 28-year-old Tijana Maksimovic, better known as Tijana Ajfon, on suspicion of having organized two girls from Belgrade to provide intimate services together at a private party near Bijeljina. Experts in this field say that it would be best for Tijana to receive a socially useful work sentence, but that a prison sentence is supposedly true as well.
– If she did socially useful work somewhere, it would be the hardest thing for her. Something like that, coupled with humanitarian work, could have had a good effect on her and saved her from the bad environment she fell into, says Božidar Boža Spasić, a former agent with the state security service.
– For this criminal act, our law threatens a penalty of two to six years in prison. This will happen in case it is shown that she really was the organizer and that the girls who brought Bijeljina really worked for her. However, based on previous experience in this area, this is most likely not the case. If she were truly an organizer and as ‘powerful’ in that world as she presents herself, they would not be transported in boats across the Drina, as was the case that night when they were arrested. Everything has been elevated to a higher level than it really is, and that is ordinary prostitution without any elite status. Tijana’s iPhone is actually the same as her companions that she took, it doesn’t matter more than them. She must not be criminalized, she must not become a powerful pimp, but she must be convicted of the crime of prostitution. In that case, the misdemeanor sentence is up to one year in prison. The real organizers behind it should be prosecuted, said criminologist Zlatko Nikolić.
