A resident of one of the burned-out barracks, Vaska Selimi, 35, told Nova.rs that 12 people lived in the burning barracks, six of them children.
“I lost everything, I have nowhere to go. The books the children learned from for school were also burned,” Vaska said.
At the scene, the Nova.rs team also learned that a tragedy was averted at the last minute, because a six-month-old baby and a six-year-old girl were taken from one of the burning barracks.
In this fire, three barracks were burned to the ground, and firefighters, who quickly appeared on the scene, prevented its spread.
The Serbian Interior Ministry told Nova.rs that firefighters quickly controlled the fire, located it and prevented it from spreading.
