Cyclone Janos, which struck parts of Greece on Friday, claimed three lives and caused enormous damage. The islands of Crete, Ithaca and Kefalonia were particularly affected.

The town of Asos, which many say is the most beautiful place in Kefalonia, was left without many roads, after the torrent and strong wind destroyed the streets.

The local media published images and photos of Asos and other places on the island, which is also popular with our tourists.

The video showed cars buried almost to the ground and boats stranded.

On the island of Crete, the storm brought heavy rains that flooded roads and businesses.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, who announced that he would visit the region soon, said the government will provide assistance to the affected areas.

The fire department said it had received more than 2,450 calls in affected regions asking for help rescuing stranded people, cutting down trees and pumping water from homes and businesses.

Cyclones, which first appeared in Greece in 1995, have become more common in recent years.
