On December 2, 2020, at the Presevo border crossing, customs officials, in cooperation with the police, prevented an attempt by seven migrants to cross the border illegally hiding in cargoes of goods.

The first case was recorded around noon, when a truck bearing the Pančevo markings arrived in line for regular entry control, transporting insulating panels from Greece to Serbia.

As customs officials noticed that the cable was not properly placed, that raised suspicions, which is why the truck was sent for a detailed scan, when it was discovered that there were people in the load. That is to say, on top of the load, just about 40 centimeters from the roof of the truck, lay three migrants who, due to the impossibility of changing their body position and the lack of air, were no longer well.

The customs agents immediately opened the loading part of the truck and in it, on top of the load, in a lying position, they found three Afghan citizens.

A few hours later, “blind passengers” were also discovered in the cargo of an Aleksinac truck transporting oranges from Greece to Serbia. When the driver reported damage near the seal, the truck was sent for a detailed inspection with a scanner that detected a specially created space, the so-called bunker, between pallets with oranges. When they opened the trailer and took out the boxes full of fruit from the south, they found four brothers, citizens of Syria, in the bunker.

It should be remembered that at the end of November 2020, Customs Administration officials prevented 1,087 migrants from crossing the state border illegally.
