Dušan Rankovi? . As we learn, Ranković has served a third of his sentence, and according to unofficial information, these days the authorities are considering whether there is a predisposition to be released on parole.

Dušan Ranković, along with five Serbs, was sentenced to prison terms of five to ten years for inflicting serious bodily injury on American Bakari Henderson, while two young men were acquitted.

They were convicted of a felony of serious bodily injury, not aggravated homicide, as stated by the prosecution during the process. Ranković received the highest sentence: 10 years in prison, and Miloš Ilić, Stefan Stojanović and Nemanja Ristić, as younger adults, received nine years in prison each, while Miloš Senić received five years behind bars.

Amir Omardzic, an English citizen of Bosnian origin, was sentenced to 15 years in prison. By court decision, the bartender George Skiadopoulos was also released, who, after the changes in the accusation, was no longer charged with murder, but with fighting.

They all ended up behind bars after American Henderson (22) from Texas was beaten on the night of July 7-8, 2017 at the “Bar Code” club in Laganas, Zakynthos. The scenario that preceded the brutal beating was discussed from various angles. Henderson died shortly after from his injuries, and several security camera videos remain, according to which the Greek police reconstructed the event, to witness the bloody confrontation.

During the trial, the defense claimed that none of the Serbian youths inflicted a wound on Henderson that caused or influenced his death. Likewise, the defense alleged that the fight and fight did not occur due to a selfie with a waitress, according to the Greek and United States media.

Ranković was convicted at the end of November 2018 and was first detained at the Zakynthos Police Station, then at the Patras Transit Prison, then at Athens and then at Amfis. One media outlet says there is a good chance that he will be paroled soon.

– According to the law in Greece, a prisoner can be released on parole after serving one third of his sentence. Institutions in Greece are currently examining for further violations, and the practice requires a medical examination to be carried out. When all these procedures are followed, it can be released, and it is very likely to happen – says a media outlet.

Following this information, we called Zora Dobričanin, Dušan Ranković’s attorney, but she did not want to comment on this information. However, the lawyer herself, after giving the verdict, said that “according to Greek law, convicts can be released on parole after a third of their sentence has been served.”

The trial of seven Serbian citizens began in July last year.

All deny having killed a young businessman in a conflict in a bar. Greek prosecutors claimed that all the defendants were guilty. Meanwhile, Henderson’s parents told the US media that they had been waiting for sentences for a long time and that their anger only deepened.

– I expected the defendants to show at least a little compassion and remorse, to at least express their condolences. They acted like they weren’t involved in it, like they didn’t care, Jill Henderson, Bakari’s mother, said at the time.

The defense claimed that none of the Serbian youths inflicted an injury on Henderson that caused or influenced his death. Two citizens of southern Serbia, Nenad Jovanović from Recica and Siniša Petrović from Žitni Potok, were released on bail.

In his closing remarks, the Greek defense attorney for the young accused from Serbia said that everyone regretted that the life of the young American was lost, but that the young accused were not in a better situation either.
