The Kovid Hospital in Batajnica, built within the “Zemun-Economy” military complex, opens its doors on Friday, and patients with moderate and severe clinical symptoms will be hospitalized there.

An increasing number of patients require daily additional accommodation facilities for the treatment of those infected by the corona virus, and this covid hospital will help a lot: the capacity is 930 beds, of which 680 beds in semi-intensive care and the rest in intensive care. The hospital, with an area of 18,000 square meters, will be able to be used for other purposes after the epidemic, because it also has a delivery room, but also an angiocardiography room.

After the epidemic, this hospital, with an area of 18,000 square meters, could also be used for other purposes, as it has a delivery room and an angio room.

As explained by Dr. Tatjana Adžić Vukičević, who was appointed director of this health institution, multidisciplinary teams of doctors will work in the hospital, and the objective will be to prevent complications, so that as few patients as possible are in intensive care.

– The largest number of doctors are experts in various specialties from the Serbian Clinical Center. This kovid hospital is part of KCS, but it will operate completely autonomously, with the most modern diagnostic devices and equipment for the treatment of this type of patients – specified Dr. Adžić Vukučević.

Dr. Tatjana Adzic Vukicevic told RTS tonight that “this is the biggest challenge” in her life.

– I have a spaceship behind me now. I have never seen a hospital like this. I am impressed by the magnificent building, all that this hospital offers, but I will also have a great team behind us with whom we will help the army of the sick in Serbia. We made teams of doctors day and night. The teams will be made up of experienced KCS specialists, our best nurses, technicians, young colleagues from the competition that ended today. I have been working with the worst lung patients all my life, but I have not had such clinical pictures and conditions in my career. But we will fight. Tomorrow is a great day, a great saint, there is no turning back, just moving forward, all together! The first patients should arrive tomorrow after 5 pm, and we will be in the hospital from the early hours of the morning – says Adžić Vukićević.

According to Dr. Milika Ashanin, Director of KCS, all the preconditions for hospital work have been met.

– We will respond to that task in terms of personnel. We will probably start work tomorrow, but life in the profession has taught us not to be born much, but we hope it will be as soon as possible, Ashanin told the Nova.rs portal.

As he noted, he visited the hospital two days ago and “everything looks fantastic.”

– For those of us who have worked in older buildings, like the KCS buildings, this is great. When I walked into the facility with new equipment, it was a completely different dimension, ”Ashanin said.
