The bodies of those killed by the coronavirus will no longer be prepared for burial, as is the practice, that is, they will not be bathed, cleaned, shaved or combed.

The decision was made based on article 65 of the Law for the Protection of the Population against Infectious Diseases, which was published in the Official Gazette of the RS.

– The Minister of Health will issue a regulation that modifies the Rulebook on the conditions and the way of handling the remains of a deceased person. Article 3, paragraph 2, is amended to read as follows: Hygienic treatment is not applied to people who have died from the following infectious diseases: anthrax, plague, cholera, smallpox, viral hemorrhagic fevers (except hemorrhagic fever with syndrome kidney), severe acute respiratory syndrome SARS and other unknown infectious diseases – it is established by law.

The Rulebook should enter into force on the eighth day from the day of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Serbia.
