In Donji Klasnić (according to the 1991 census, 97% of Serbs lived in the village) in Banija, more precisely in the village of Listovača, lives the grandmother Ljuba Obradović, a resident of the EU without electricity.

It can only be reached through a plowed meadow, because there is no country road and asphalt is a noun.

Old houses are falling apart and bushes slowly cover the entire area. Only someone else lives in one of those houses. Grandmother Ljuba Obradovic is 98 years old.

Until recently, Grandma Ljuba lived without electricity, but after a report in a newspaper, a Ljuba company provided solar panels.

Now at least he has a light bulb that lights up a small room with a dirt floor that is Ljubi and the kitchen and bedroom.

The rodents, little by little, become owners of the house.

– They cut everything – Ljuba complains, showing the curtains and blankets that the rodents bite.

– All that was fine while my Marko was alive – Ljuba says through tears.

Marko was her nephew and he visited her regularly, but had recently died, so her grandmother is now alone.

“If I knew that I would die immediately, I would jump there,” says the old woman.

Ljuba’s pension is only 500 kuna (less than 8,000 dinars). When a story about her appeared in the newspapers, a company in Varaždin started paying her another 500 each month.

But Ljubi doesn’t need much anyway, the most important thing for her are trees for the winter, and she eats by planting a small garden. He says he is more afraid of the cold.
