POŽAREVAC – Members of the Ministry of the Interior in Požarevac, with swift and effective action, shed light on the murder of a 76-year-old woman in the Kostolac area and arrested VJ (1984) in the vicinity of Vršac, on suspicion that committed this crime.
This is a suspect who has Romanian and Serbian citizenship.
It is suspected that on the night of January 4-5 this year, under the influence of alcohol, he entered the house of an eighty-six-year-old woman who was sleeping and, with the threat of a knife, tried to rape her.
As we learn, the suspect is charged with aggravated homicide with which he tried to cover up the rape, and told the police that he killed his grandmother because she assaulted him and that he was defending himself. He faces up to 10 years in prison.
After the woman resisted, he allegedly stabbed her several times, of which he died on the spot.
The VJ then fled and the Požarevac police, in cooperation with the Directorate of Criminal Police and the Pancevo police, found and arrested him the same day.
By order of the competent prosecutor’s office, the suspect was detained for a maximum of 48 hours and will be taken to the Požarevac Superior Prosecutor’s Office, together with a criminal report.
It should be remembered that in less than 20 hours from the moment the crime was reported, the police solved the brutal murder of the elderly Radinka K. (86), who was found dead in a house in the village of Recica near Pozarevac. The old woman was stabbed several times in the chest and her neck was cut.
