BELGRADE – The arrival of the US development agency DFC in Belgrade is news not only for the Serbian economy and a strong signal for future investments in the region as a whole, participants in Kurir Television’s “Heating” program agree.
For the first time, one of the most powerful US financial organizations, the US development agency DFC, will open its representative office in Belgrade, the only office of its kind in the region. It is an organization with an annual budget of more than 60 billion dollars.

Kovacevic adds that this shows that the US interest is to invest more in the Western Balkans and lift the economy, which is in line with the Washington agreement, where the focus was mainly on the economy.

When asked how to interpret this American interest, Professor Rabrenović He says that this economic agreement cut a Gordian knot that put our country on the sidelines of world investments. The arrival of this development agency is a strong new message and an indicator of a new strategic partnership with the United States. The professor recalled that we had very good relations with the United States, but a long time ago, they have cooled down in the last thirty years.
– It seems to me that the climate has changed and that there has been warming … this is a base and a parachute that cannot be changed so easily, so it is a new beginning and a basis for some other sensitive issues that will be raised. – said Rabrenović and a little later added that he believes that the investments of the EU and the US are complementary, that is, they are not contradictory, adding that we need such an agreement.
– It is important that we are visible on the world map, and Serbian businessmen should use that – he added that cooperation may not be easy and that we can get stuck somewhere, but that we must not give up.
Professor Savic He pointed out that, above all, he would like to say what our concrete benefit is when it comes to the arrival of the DFC, and that is relations with the United States, because neither in politics nor in economics is it good to be on the other side against the greatest power of the world.
– This is the first time in many years … since Dayton that Serbia got a different role, a different place when it comes to the United States, for me it is perhaps the biggest gain from this deal – Savic said, adding that Kosovo maintains Head over the top lead thanks only to American business and investment.
Professor Savić emphasized that Albanians are economically irrational and that the only objective to which everything is subordinate is the recognition of the so-called independent state of Kosovo. He explained that if ordinary people were asked, it would be very different because ordinary people, both Albanian and Serbian, are interested in living well and in peace. Savic added that Albanians have problems with each other. Savic emphasized that he is always in favor of road construction, adding that we have good economic cooperation with Russia, China and the United States.
Kovacevic later added that he made a forecast error when, at the very beginning of the introduction of Pristina’s taxes on Serbian products, he said that it would last no more than two weeks or a month, thinking that a serious opinion would be crucial, but that He was not wrong when he said something so untenable. Kovacevic also assessed that Pristina’s withdrawal from the CEFTA agreement is just a passing episode.
