Greece should open its borders to tourists on May 14, while judging by the words of the outgoing Turkish ambassador to Serbia, Tanju Bilgic, they will travel to Serbia without a PCR test.

However, regardless of the special announcements, there is no doubt that the whole situation with travel will ultimately depend on two things: the epidemiological situation in the countries and the vaccination process. In the coming months, the position of the European Union countries on the issue of covid passports and general travel conditions will be monitored, but the announcements in recent days are in favor of countries that depend on tourism and the tourism industry. so as not to sacrifice another tourist. season.

Here’s how things are for now in traditional Serbian summer resorts, what travelers can expect, and what they should prepare for if they are planning a summer vacation.

Greece

It has been announced that tourists will be able to enter Greece from May. According to current announcements, Serbian citizens will be able to enter Greece with a vaccination certificate or a negative PCR test, or if they have antibodies.

In the words of the Greek Tourism Minister Haris Teoharis, all tourists will have to take a test, but unlike last year, rapid tests will be used. He also added that all the problems caused by the virus (for example, the hospitalization of tourists) will be solved at the expense of Greece, noting that all the rules that apply to Greek citizens will also apply to tourists.

Greece has adopted a detailed plan according to which it will open from the end of this month and for now it looks like this:

Turkey

Turkey has started an ambitious vaccination program to normalize the situation and save the tourist season in 2021. Apparently, Turkey will also be open for Serbian tourists this year.

Turkey’s outgoing Ambassador to Serbia Tanju Bilgic stated yesterday that he is confident that Serbian citizens will be able to travel to Turkey this year without the PSR test.

– Our goal is to receive as many tourists as possible this year. More than 10 percent of the Turkish population has been vaccinated. This means that the vaccination will be completed in the summer. I am sure Serbian citizens will be able to travel to Turkey without PSR test this year, Bilgic told RTS.

Montenegro

As of January 12 this year, Serbian citizens can enter Montenegro without having a negative PCR test at all border crossings, with regard to health measures, according to the health warning from the Institute of Public Health of Montenegro, according to the Serbian website. Croatia

Citizens of Serbia going to Croatia to salt themselves must pass a negative PCR test upon entry. There is a possibility that they will be evaluated upon entering the country, but then they will be asked to self-isolate. The border with Croatia was opened to citizens of Serbia on July 1 last year, with a negative PCR test or a mandatory two-week quarantine.

Bulgaria

At the moment, a negative PSR test of no more than 72 hours is needed to enter the territory of Bulgaria, and this measure has been in effect since July 28 last year, when this country, after just over a month, opened its borders to foreigners. the citizens.

During the last year, the Egyptian government changed the conditions for crossing the border several times. Tunisia

Tunisia is also a very popular tourist destination for citizens of Serbia. Tourists from Serbia can enter Tunisia with a negative PCR test. What is specific to Tunisia, and what can deter many from spending their summers in this country, is the procedure by which passengers are transported to a hotel immediately after entering the country, on their own account, where they remain in quarantine for a week. The EU is also aware of this, which is why after the summit of European leaders at the end of February, the decision was made to introduce digital certificates (so-called covid passports) to regulate the trade of goods and people within the Union.

On that occasion, the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Layen, stressed that the member states would make decisions about what could be done with the certificates, and that they would be used at the EU level for the functioning of the single market. . Serbia was not prepared for the announcement of the creation of the covid passport. The Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications, Tatjana Matić, pointed out that Serbia meets all the technical preconditions for issuing such a certificate.
