The speed of the arrival of the American International Investment Finance Corporation DFC in Belgrade, following the agreement reached in Washington, as well as the high ranking of the American delegation that arrived, confirms that the agreement was not a political stunt, said the executive director of DFC, Adam Bohler, at the press conference today.

However, he estimated that the investments will take a little longer, so he answered the question of whether a similar speed can be expected after the agreement signed at the White House in carrying out the projects agreed in Belgrade.

“It takes time. We need to do analysis, prepare documentation … and these are our first steps. We have met with hundreds and hundreds of companies that are now in the works. After the analysis we will determine where the interest is visible and will sign the contracts accordingly. “It will take all of them a few months. It’s not something that can be done right away,” Bohler said.

He noted the focus of the DFC on the economic progress of developing countries, although, as he said, the United States is in the electoral process, and said that determination does not depend on which administration is in charge of the United States.

Bohler reiterated that the delegation with which he was in Pristina and Belgrade did a great job on the basis of the agreement signed in Washington with the leaders of Belgrade and Pristina, and evaluated it as a great step towards the normalization of economic relations between the two parts.

When asked by the media how the DFC will reduce Chinese influence in the region, Bohler replied that the US interest in the region is primarily economic.

“The Chinese are not investing in the region out of goodwill or charitable reasons, but because of their influence,” he said.

He stressed that the United States wants to strengthen the sovereignty of those countries by investing and making them allies. “

When asked about the cooperation between the US and the EU, he said that the US, when it comes to EU investments, is happy to be a partner in that, and that it has in mind, in what Regarding cooperation with the EU, investments in the Western Balkans.

Many investments are common to us, because our main objective is to protect the sovereignty of our allies, because some investments are a way to destroy that sovereignty. The director of the regional office of DFC in Belgrade, John Jovanovic, also joined the conversation with representatives of the media and recalled four key projects agreed in Belgrade: construction of the highway of peace, Belgrade-Pristina railway, support to the small and medium-sized enterprises, cooperation between the youth of Kosovo and Serbia
