With these words, the day after the discovery of Stefan Russov and Milica Mirjanić in the Despotovac area, says Bojan Milovanović of Despotovac, a local who was the first to find the lost couple.
– A despotic group announced on the Internet that two people disappeared here in our area. I said that to the woman and said, “Let’s go find them.” She, of course, agreed immediately. Meanwhile, another friend called and we left with the jeep: Bojan Milovanović begins the story.
Along the way, he met more people from Despotovac and then realized that it was a great quest.
– I did not know that there were already so many people in the place, we met hunters, foresters, Mountain Service teams, locals … We decided to go along that only forest road, from Krnja Jela to Brezovica. I knew there was only one hut there – explains Bojan.
Milica and Stefan were already in the cabin at the time, as Stefan himself later told us. They had spent the night before in front of her because they feared being poisoned by a stove they suspected was defective. Tired, cold, they tried by all means to ask for help with the lamps.
– When I got to that cabin, I slowed down to take a closer look. It was a thick fog, and then I saw someone pointing a flashlight at us. I went back in reverse and we went down to them – Bojan tells us.
Then after two days of uncertainty and worry, Stefan and Milica were overwhelmed with the feeling of happiness for the first time.
– They were happy when we got to them. First we asked them if it was okay, if everything was okay. They were a little scared, but happy to see us. I decided to take them to the nearest place where they can catch the signal to call their parents and let them know that we have found them – says Bojan.
On the way back, they decided to take out Stefan and Milica’s car.
– This is not the path that cars usually take, but especially trucks, tractors and jeeps. The terrain is very inaccessible and they probably went as far as the road allowed. They then landed in a snowy garbage where they got trapped. I managed to get the car out by jeep and luckily there were no major flaws in it, says Bojan.
Then, a team from the Mountain Rescue Service arrived and took Milica and Stefan away and took them to safety.
This modest young man says that he is very happy to have participated in this search and that they found the young man and the girl alive and well.
– Otherwise we go to the mountain, we go in jeeps when it is snowing. I’m glad I did something useful this time and helped the best we could – concludes Bojan Milovanović.
