At the Horgos crossing, customs officials, in cooperation with police, yesterday seized 15 sets of hot dogs, nearly 200 kilograms of hookah tobacco, but also more than 1,700 male and female deodorants.

Hookah tobacco and deodorants were discovered early this morning when a bus traveling on the Dortmund-Peja route, with only five passengers, arrived at the entrance control.

When asked if they had anything to report, passengers and drivers said they had nothing but personal luggage.

It was soon determined that the trunk was actually a hole filled with suspected shipments, as a detailed search found 18 cardboard boxes containing 10 one-kilogram plastic cans of hookah tobacco of varying tastes.

Additionally, around 1,000 deodorants for women and more than 700 for men were found in cardboard boxes and sports bags, as well as 500 bags of instant coffee.

Responsibility for the smuggled goods was assumed by a 48-year-old driver, an Albanian with documents, the so-called Kosovo.

The day before, upon leaving the country, a “Volkswagen Turan” with Swiss license plates was reserved for a detailed inspection, which was used by a married couple of Swiss nationals from Kosovo and Metohija.

On that occasion, 15 sets of hookahs were found to be smoked under bags and suitcases with clothes, with eight one-kilogram packages of hookah tobacco of different tastes.

In both cases, the undeclared goods were retained until the end of the fault process before the competent court.
