This is the story of Dragoljub Milovanović, the father of victim Nikola (19), who died on Friday afternoon about a hundred meters from the family home in Dobanovci, when a passenger car collided with the motorcycle he was driving. The accident occurred on Lola Ribara Street at around 4.30 p.m. Nikola’s namesake and best friend was with him on a motorcycle, he writes “Novosti”.
Died in my arms
The father of the young man who was injured says he went immediately when he was informed about the accident.
– I went to take my daughter to driving classes and they only told me that my son had died. I ran home and saw him lying on the ground. She died in my arms. Afterwards, I ran towards his friend, who was 20 meters in the channel from the accident site. The blow was so strong, it threw him so far. No one was allowed to move it and the water was up to his throat. He told me when I approached him: “Put your legs out, I’m cold” – says Dragoljub.
He grabbed it, he says, like a baby, put it on a pallet they found nearby, and pulled it out of the canal. He was conscious until the ambulance arrived.
Poor visibility, carelessness and speed
– Then I ran back to my son, thinking he would wake up. I pounced on the driver with effect. But I can’t blame him either, that is, they are both guilty. My Nikola was driving a little bit faster, and that driver came out of the Žabarska curve onto Lola Ribara street a little bit faster and that’s it. The flagpole and comic hedge, more prominent than other courtyards, impede good visibility. That is why I will concrete a pillar here and raise the engine in which Nikola died, as a warning to all drivers. I no longer need a motorcycle, when I don’t have a son – says a desperate father who yesterday found the engine key with the icon and commented that not even the saint saved it.

– My Nikola had plans for life, he started working in a good company. She started to build a house, she was thinking of taking out a loan, so she could get married next year, but here … In a second, her life was extinguished. She has been riding a motorcycle since she was seven years old, she loved to drive and this is the first and last accident she had. She lived fast, so she left – says the inconsolable father of “Kurir”.
Another motorcyclist was seriously injured
Nenad, the father of another young man, who is also an inseparable friend of Dragoljub, says that his son is in a difficult condition.
– You have an injury to the head, pelvis and lungs. She flew over Nikola and I think she got injured falling into the canal. Luckily, Dragoljub arrived on time – explains Nenad.
Nikola Jovanović is now recovering in the Emergency Center after the operation.
The funeral of the victim Nikola Milovanović will be on Tuesday. You will be joined by friends and family, as well as other motorcycle enthusiasts from the surrounding area.
