It will soon be a year since my son was found dead, buried in the vicinity of Sopot, and no trace has been found and no one knows what happened. Everything we hear and see about the great arrest of the Velja Nevolje group resembles what happened to my son. He was also lured into a meeting, the body was found buried and rumored to have been killed in a weekend house …
With these words, Mara Halabrin, the mother of Aleksandar Halabrin (25), whose body was accidentally found by a local near the town of Parcane near Sopot early last year, after several days of searching for the family, begins her painful confession for “Blic”.
Halabrin is a young man from Alibunar, a place close to Pancevo that was one of Velja Nevolja’s bases, and who was with several famous fans. On the fateful day of March 20 last year, he went to a meeting with his friend Vladimir K. in Banjica. His phone soon became inaccessible and he did not return home … A concerned family reported his disappearance to the police.
Almost two months later, on May 16, dogs from a local Parcan found freshly dug dirt in a plot, and when a man came to see what it was all about, he was shocked: the body of a young man was in a shallow hole. . . He immediately called the police, but questions about how Aleksandar’s body ended up in the vicinity of Sopot, who killed him and why, remain unanswered to this day.
– On Sunday I went to Banjica, to visit the place where he was last seen. I saw that there was a store nearby, and security cameras in it … I went back to the police and asked them if they had reviewed the images from the camera, and they asked me if I had asked them. I was in a state of shock – the unfortunate woman tells us, adding that in the meantime she learned that the police were able to locate the phone seven days after the disappearance report, but suspect that it was never done.
The case of the murdered Halabrin became relevant again with the arrest of Veljko Belivuk, alias Veljko Nevolja, and members of his group. Police have started collecting pieces of the “mosaic” to create a clear picture of how the group functioned, and the information we learn on a daily basis is shocking because of its monstrosity.
The Belivuk group’s modus operandi, when it came to killings, was to lure the victim into a meeting with a person known to her, and then they would put her in a car and drive her to one of the weekend homes in the outside the city, which the police found several. One of them is in the immediate vicinity of where Halabrin’s body was found …
– I remember the first days when we still received information from various parties, the information reached me that Aleksandar was murdered in a weekend house. After that, nobody mentioned that weekend house to me … – explains Mara Halabrin.
As a reminder, in recent days, the police searched several Belivuk weekend houses and found various traces such as blood, traces of burns on the ground, chemical means for disinfection and cleaning. Thus, one of the theses is that Belivuk took his victims to weekend homes where he tortured and killed them with his associates, and then burned their bodies, drowned them in acid and buried them. The bones suspected of belonging to one of Belivuk’s victims were found at the Vrčin landfill on Monday and Tuesday. The bones were sent for analysis to confirm whether they were human and whose they were.
Suspicious SMS from fans
The mother of the murdered young man revealed to us that a message arrived on Aleksandar’s phone the day before the meeting in Banjica from the phone of VK, the young man who saw him last.
– In that message, which certainly referred to Aleksandar, it was written: “He will come, today he could not, he will come tomorrow.” He left the next day and we never saw him again – says Mara.
By the way, VK is a member of a fan group from Belgrade and the police also know his brother. After Aleksandar’s murder, he was arrested in Voždovac, for illegally carrying weapons, and after being convicted, he was released with a nanny. Aleksandar’s mother wanted to know if VK had disclosed any information about Aleksandar to the police, but they said no.
Connection with Alibeg
When last year the former leader of the Partizan “Forbidden” group Nenad Alajbegović alias Alibeg was shot in Ulica narodnih heroija in New Belgrade, the media reported that he was with a friend, and that friend was Aleksandar Halabrin, who took him to the ER. Center so hurt.
Alibeg later said that he did not know who would want to harm him because he has no enemies.
Connection with Lazar Vukićević
Some Belgrade media wrote that Aleksandar Halabrin was also related to Lazar Vukićević, who, as the head of the Criminal Police Directorate, Bogdan Pušić said, is on the list of people whose disappearance is suspected by Belivuk’s group.
Vukicevic is a citizen of Belgrade, previously known to the police for the shooting of Nikola Vavic, he was close to Zvezda fans and disappeared in mid-October last year.
Vukicevic was last seen in Banovo Brdo, and the last person he spoke to was Damir Hodzic from Bar, a close relative of Alan Kozar, who was killed in Corfu and was known as the leader of a clan that cooperates closely with Zemun. and Skaljar. clan in Serbia.
Unofficial information surfaced that Vukićević was lured to the meeting because he received a photo of Veljko Belivuk tied up from Damir Hodžić’s phone, and he expressed suspicions “that he was being tended” before he left for the meeting, but that he still left. .
“I lived for him, and now I live to find out who killed him.”
Alexander Halabrin’s mother says she won’t give up until she finds out who killed her only son and why.
– I only had one, I lived for him, I worked, I fought … You cannot imagine what it is like when they bring you a child in a bag. I think my son was typed, that these people reached out to him for months to gain his trust. Whatever he did, he’s my son – Mara barely utters, explaining that Aleksandar came from Slovakia two years ago, that he attended high school in Zemun and trained boxing, and that he thinks this is the suspicious company he fell into , recruited for a long time.
Considering that the police did not do their job after they reported her son’s disappearance on March 20, or even that his disappearance was recorded, Mara Halabrin tries to obtain some information from the authorities.
– I often go to the police, knock on all the doors I can. I think they could have taken the pictures from the cameras, which could have verified the last location of your phone. At first they said the investigation was ongoing and that they knew nothing, and now that a long time has passed. It seems to me that responsibility is being transferred to each other, from one department to another – says Mara.
Journalists found a watch, an aunt’s passport, and money
All these suspicions of Mare Halabrin began to be born in the first days that Halabrin was found. First, because the watch was found in the place where the body was found, which according to Alexander’s mother is not his and was found by journalists who came to report that day.
– That watch was broken, but it wasn’t old and it didn’t look like it had been there for long. And we gave it to the police, but every time I asked about that watch, they avoided an answer. And in general, they answer the same question to each of our questions: that the investigation is ongoing, that they cannot give us information so as not to endanger it – Mara Halabrin told “Blic” earlier.
Three weeks after Halabrin’s body was found, Alexander’s aunt went to the outskirts of Sopot to visit the place where it was found and to thank the man who found it.
– She and her husband went to Sopot to find that man and thank him and leave flowers at the place where Aleksandar was buried. With a cursory glance around the place, he saw a passport and a coin with traces of blood, and immediately called the police. The forensic expert came and took those items to the police, Mara said previously.
– How is it possible that none of the policemen have seen that? How is it possible if they told us that there were a hundred of them in the place that day? If they had dug into that ground, if they had only looked a little better, they would surely have found them too. But, it seems that the police officers who were in the investigation that day did not do their job well, and perhaps the murderer of my son had already been found – the disappointed mother tells us, adding that such discounts are inadmissible.
