The low flight altitude between 200 and 400 meters, as well as the risky maneuvering with the MiG-21 aircraft, were fatal for the pilots of Major Dejan Krsnik (49) and Captain First Class Zvonko Vasiljevic (43) who crashed in the village of Brasina near Mali Zvornik on Friday. . The brave pilots dropped the fuel tank during the crash and made a desperate maneuver with the plane just to avoid crashing into houses, sources say. In doing so, they practically gave their lives to save people on earth.

As they claim, these are the preliminary results of the tragic accident in which experienced Serbian army pilots were killed.

– During the investigation a device was found to record the flight parameters of the MiG 21, which is a device similar to the “black box” in civil aircraft, except that it does not record communication with the pilots. The device suffered no major damage, so experts will be able to determine the exact speed and altitude of the plane at the time just before the accident, but the first results show that the plane was flying between 200 and 400 meters above sea level in the critical moment – said the source.

On the fateful morning, around nine o’clock, the MiG-21 took off from the Batajnica military airport and headed towards Donja Borina, the hometown of Captain Vasiljevic, which is located right next to Brasina.

– Vasiljevic wanted to greet his family and neighbors by flying over his hometown. Twice he and Krasnik flew over Donja Borina, and then they did a maneuver in which they lost their buoyancy, meaning they could no longer climb high. It is important to note that these combat maneuvers are extremely dangerous at low altitude. When they saw that demolition was inevitable, the pilots discarded the fuel tanks so as not to start a fire that would burn the village during the fall. At the same time, they tipped the plane so that it could fly over the neighboring town of Brasina and crash into a field. You can say that the pilots died to save people on the ground – said the source of Informer.

During the night, the Minister of Defense, Aleksandar Vulin, together with the Chief of the General Staff, Milan Mojsilović, the Commander of the Air Force, Duško Žarković, and the Commander of the 204th Air Brigade, Brane Krnjajić, visited the families of the dead pilots.

– They are people who have dedicated their lives to being safe. That was their job, their mission, and they lost their lives in that mission – emphasized Vulin, adding that the military commissions finished the training work, that all the material evidence was collected and that the remains of the aircraft were removed and transferred to the institute. aircraft.

Let us remind you, Major Krsnik is survived by his wife and son, and Captain Vasiljevic is survived by his wife and two children.
