Miroslav Jovanović (52), a plant engineer at the “Krušik” factory, was killed and his colleague MP was seriously injured in the explosion that occurred around 11 am on Monday at the Begova voda test site near Valjevo .
As we learn, the accident occurred during a regular experiment, while connecting the capsule to the warhead of an anti-tank missile, and interlocutors say a loud detonation echoed.
It’s not your first time
– Jovanović and MP, who is an electrical test range worker, worked there on an experiment that is common when there was an explosion in the warhead under inexplicable circumstances. They were experienced workers and this is not the first time they have connected the capsule. They were highly trained for the job they were doing – says Kurir’s source and continues: – Yesterday, the third worker called the police and the ambulance and reported that his colleagues were injured. MP in burns was transferred to the Emergency Center in Valjevo, and then to the Military Medical Academy and his condition is being monitored, while unfortunately Jovanović was not spared.
As the source explains, this is the first accident on the Begova Voda test site. – There have been no incidents here so far, and at least 300 such experiments have been carried out – says the source.
The neighbors of the victim Jovanović have only words of praise for him. – As soon as we heard the news this morning, we suspected that it was Miroslav, because we knew that the neighbor was an engineer in “Krušik”. Unfortunately, our black premonitions came true. Everyone can say only the most beautiful things about him – say the neighbors and add: – A wonderful family man, father of three children. She took care of her sick mother, we don’t know how she will handle this. His father was a carpenter and he was also a carpenter, and he was successful. God obviously only takes the best, because Miroslav was like that, he had time for everything and could do everything, nothing was difficult for him.
Leading in your business
Jovanovic’s colleagues say he was one of the leading factory engineers in the special construction industry.
– Every now and then I would go to that training ground, just to do experiments like this. Nobody knows what went wrong, he was a great expert. Believe me, we can’t even speak in shock, he was an exceptional colleague, we visited after family celebrations – said one of the workers of “Krušik” through tears.

A specific responsibility will be established
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said yesterday that he was awaiting the report of the competent services on the accident in “Krušik”, but that he did not expect it to happen soon due to the investigation.
– The cables had to be connected in Malchutka. Obviously, they were poorly connected. We will receive the full report. These are things that happen in arms factories, they will always happen and I am convinced that a concrete responsibility will be established – the President told journalists after the Government session and expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the victim.
