Most of the “businessmen” came to “visit” them, which is why many people in Šabac these days are supposedly not sleeping well for fear that the police will call them for questioning.
On the night from Friday to Saturday, members of the Belgrade Criminal Police Directorate unit broke into “Luna” (ex “Zlatna greda”) and “in action” found four girls aged 18 to 25 with three clients. The action was led by the Šabac Superior Prosecutor’s Office, which, in collaboration with the local Police Administration, investigated the case for more than two months.
The owner of the facility, Velimir G. (57), his wife Esther G. (49), a Romanian national, and his assistant NO (41) from Vladimirac were arrested. All are accused of the crime of trafficking in persons, for which they are threatened with a sentence of five to 12 years in prison.
– At the hearing before the Superior Prosecutor’s Office, the three defended themselves with silence, after which they were taken into custody – says Zoran Obradović, the superior prosecutor of Šabac, for “Novosti”. – The Prosecutor’s Office, in cooperation with the local police, became aware of the arrest of the suspects, but the UKP also provided significant assistance.
The identity of the people captured with the girls is not yet known, nor what they told the police.
THE HANDS OF THE POLICE WERE BANDED
The facts in “Luna” were known before, but the police had their hands tied, because they could only prosecute prostitutes. Recently, “business” has come under the jurisdiction of the criminal police, that is, the group of sexual and blood crimes.
– We all remember the year when a raid broke into these facilities and the only thing the police can do is expel the women to the other side of the closest state border with the Republika Srpska. But they return quickly by boat through the Drina – says our interlocutor.
In all likelihood, they could serve as so-called good witnesses, whom prosecutors pardon in exchange for valuable information.
– There was a queue at “Luna”, and since the prohibitions of work by crown were introduced, only those who were announced to the owners came. Two thirds of customers kept coming back, and there were also those who fell in love, because the “love sellers” are really beauties – says our interlocutor of the investigation, who insists on anonymity.
The rate for half an hour of sexual services was 70 euros and for one hour 100 euros. Many Majurci also passed by, supposedly separating them from their mouths just so they could see their pets once a month. It is not uncommon for Sabac entrepreneurs to bring business partners from the country and abroad to “honor” them after the contracts concluded.
– It is not a question that the girls were slaves, if it is known that they had five to seven visits during the day – says our interlocutor. – Hundreds of people went through the bed of a single girl a month. It is horrible to have a daughter in those years, so you see what these young women have suffered.
INTERNET PUBLICITY
KAFANA “Zlatna greda” changed its name to “Luna PP zvezda” due to bad publicity in the 1990s, when it was known to prostitutes from Ukraine and Moldova, and also advertises catering services on the Internet. On the site you can see the offer of fifteen well-equipped rooms with bathrooms.
And the owners of the facility, Velimir and Esther, have two slightly younger daughters who are studying somewhere.
– Esther or Madame Stella, took charge of the health of the girls recruited for prostitution – says our interlocutor of the investigation.
– They are very careful and treated like expensive machines, which they were, because the profits are really huge. When the case is viewed from this shady side, only then does it become apparent how difficult exploitation is.
