A group of citizens with Montenegrin flags and insignia gathered this morning in Budva in front of the entrance to the old town, to prevent Serbian ambassador Vladimir Bozovic from placing a wreath on the plaque commemorating the “Serbian liberators”.
“Vijesti” was unofficially told that the Montenegrin government yesterday sent a letter of protest to the Serbian government over the announcement of the placement of wreaths. As confirmed to “Vijesti”, Bozovic will not deposit a wreath at the disputed milestone.
The assembled sing “Oh bright May dawn” and shout “Montenegro will not be the coast of the Serbian sea”.
Among those gathered are Montenegrin leader Andjela Ivanovic and former independent councilor Stevan Dzakovic.
Police inspectors are on site to prevent an incident.
Daja Ljubiša, a resident of Darinka, lit a candle in the well in front of the entrance to the old town. Ljubiša stated that just as the plate is fake, it has a place in the sewer.
He said that this is not a political meeting, but a civil one, and asked everyone to stay together until 10pm. Dozens of citizens are in front of the old town.
We remind you that in 2013, Serbian Ambassador Zoran Bingulac placed a wreath on the commemorative plaque together with then-Mayor Lazar Radjenović (DPS).
