However, this device can be rented even cheaper, for 90 euros per month, with a deposit of 50 euros, which, as it is written in the advertisement, “is returned after the rental is finished if there is no mechanical damage to the concentrator “.
The seller also claims that the device “belongs to the quietest concentrators with noise below 40 decibels.”
In addition, most of the advertisements indicate that they are “devices characterized by very low electricity consumption, a sensor for the” purity “of oxygen, easy handling and maintenance, small dimensions and modern design”.
For those with deeper pockets who want to buy an electric oxygen concentrator, they have to reserve 850 to 1,800 euros for used ones, as sellers often claim in Internet advertisements “only a few times used”.
You can also find new oxygen concentrators for sale, and their price is usually around 2,500 euros.
In addition, the sale of small digital pulse oximeters is also flourishing, which measure the saturation level, that is, the non-invasive saturation with oxygen in the blood, which can be found at a price of 2,000 to 8,000 dinars.
It is also interesting that these are “fresh” ads for this type of medical equipment, and they have been especially popular on the Internet since October.
This leads to the clear conclusion that the era of the crown, and especially in this period of alarming epidemiological situation and overloaded health system, caused a craze for oxygen concentrators and popular self-medication.
The doctor warns: more harm than good
Prof. However, Dr. Zarko Rankovic, an infectologist, cautions that such a device should never be used without consulting a doctor.
– It would be like patients prescribing drugs for themselves with the principle “because my neighbor uses them.” Those who have low saturation and need oxygen are hospitalized and only a doctor should determine the flow of oxygen. You can’t take oxygen like a layman or according to Google’s instructions, because it can do more harm than good. By the way, doctors constantly warn that treatment at home is very dangerous, that they should not do it at all, because it happens that the situation becomes so complicated that after treatment it is much more difficult and longer.
