Gendarmerie divers yesterday searched the Sava river bed around the “Freestyler” raft in Belgrade, which is suspected to have been one of the bases of Veljko Belivuk and his clan.
For the second day in a row, the police are searching for cold steel and firearms, which were allegedly used by members of Velja’s group in liquidations and clashes with rivals, and then dumped into the river.
It should be recalled that strong police forces occupied Sava Quay on Wednesday morning and blocked access around the raft. As we learned, watches, SIM cards and mobile phones were found in the raft, which were sent for forensic processing to determine what was in them and if members of the criminal group used them for agreements on the commission of criminal acts.
– The Belivuk team maintained security on this raft – says our interlocutor of the investigation:
– It is believed that the divers were looking for firearms, but also pacemakers, boxers and knives.
In addition, plainclothes inspectors were on the raft the entire time and conducted a search, which was also attended yesterday by the participant of the reality show “Couples”, Vitomir Tomić, better known as Vita Tarot.
– It is possible that there are more boxes inside where the narcotics are hidden, and the police were also looking for DNA traces that could solve some facts – added the source.
There is also a suspicion that the barrels on which the “Freestyler” raft floats may have contained storage boxes and secret drugs, the distribution of which was largely done by the Velja Nevolje group.
A source from Kurir claims that if drugs are found in barrels carrying rafts, it would be the first time narcotics have been stored in that way. Hardly anyone would even think of hiding drugs in such a place, and that might be the answer to the question why the numerous raids were practically unsuccessful.
