A former and two new ministers will deal with the finances and economic development of Serbia in the new government introduced yesterday.

It is true that in the next year and a half, as long as the new Serbian government is “on time”, it will have a lot of work to do, both for the projects started and announced, and for the health crisis and the coronavirus pandemic, which brings a lot of uncertainty in the next period.

Good economic indicators, according to which Serbia will be among the leading countries in Europe in terms of gross domestic product (GDP) growth, but also in the amount of public debt, are an important starting point for continued development. . The finance, economy and construction, transport and infrastructure sectors will undoubtedly be some of the most important driving the increased growth of the Serbian economy.

The new Finance Minister was born in 1972 in Belgrade, where he finished primary and secondary school. He graduated and obtained his master’s degree from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Belgrade, and during his undergraduate studies he received an award as a student of the generation, and after graduation he received an award for best graduate thesis.

Before becoming Minister of Finance, Siniša Mali was Mayor of Belgrade from 2014 to 2018, and during his tenure, a financial consolidation program was launched and implemented in the city, which halved the city’s debt and significantly reduced the budget deficit.

During his tenure, Belgrade received a credit rating for the first time, which according to Moody’s rating is BA3. Before becoming mayor, he was special adviser for economics and finance in the government of then Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić.

Previously, he was a financial advisor in the private sector, where he worked in several private companies that provided advice in the field of financial services.

The new economy minister, Andjelka Atanaskovic, was born in 1958 in Trstenik, where she finished primary school and technical school. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Belgrade, Department in Kraljevo, in 1982. With the election of Atanaskovic to the post of Minister of Economy, the new Serbian Government secured a member who spent his entire working life in a single company.

Namely, Andjelka Atanasković got a job at the factory “Prva petoletka – namenska” immediately after graduation, where she was controlling director for a time.

Since 2014, he is the Managing Director of PPT ‘Namenska’ in Trstenik, where, as he states, “he strengthens business policy, improves professional staff, acquires new machines and equipment in the production process, and expands the foreign market.”

Atanaskovic has stated several times that the president called her “Dragon Woman” and that on the one hand he likes her very much, but he also forces her.

The new Economy Minister was named the best manager in Southeast Europe in 2016, Woman of the Year in the region, and received numerous awards from regional and national chambers of commerce.

“I am very happy and will do my best to justify the confidence of President Vučić and do everything possible to improve the economy and attract as much investment as possible,” Atanasković said after introducing the candidates for new ministers.

The new Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure will be Tomislav Momirovic, President of Mona Hotel Management. The new government, which will be formed in the coming days, will thus have the successor of the family business empire in the position of minister, who became famous with his tweets.

Tomislav Momirović was born in 1983 in Belgrade, where he graduated from the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade. Since 2007 he has been with Mona doo, where he first held the position of advisor.

Since 2011 and the separation of the company Mona Hotel Management, he has held the position of CEO of this company, and in 2016 he assumed the position of president of the company Mona Hotel Management doo.

He has recently become “famous” in the public with his tweets that caused a veritable flood of comments, and recently he surprised the public when he confirmed to “Blic” the information that his parents Nada and Djordje Momirovic decided to leave the whole business to their children and share it. .

The new minister affirmed that the offer of the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, and the Prime Minister-designate, Ana Brnabić, is a great honor and an even greater responsibility. He said that a lot of work is expected from the new government in a short time.

“The ministry itself is very demanding and important because for Serbia, the construction of roads and traffic infrastructure is one of the most important development projects,” Momirovic said.
