The crisis staff of the city of Belgrade held a session today and called on citizens to adhere to all epidemiological measures.
– Please do not ruin all the good we did in the previous months, when Serbia was, and today is one of the least infected countries in Europe, said the Deputy Mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, after today’s session of the city crisis staff.
– There will be no closure of Belgrade, this is not discussed nor is the issue on the agenda. Do not read lies and nonsense about the supposed quarantine of social networks that are deliberately placed to deceive citizens – noted, Kurir reports.
He added that his position is that it is necessary to learn to live with the virus, to make the economy work and lead a normal life, and at the same time to preserve the health of citizens through the application of epidemiological measures.
The fact that, he says, Belgrade is once again the largest hotbed of the corona virus in Serbia should warn us all that we must adhere to epidemiological measures.
Let us remind you that of the 111 newly infected people in Serbia on Thursday, October 1, up to 40 percent are from Belgrade, and 4.3 percent of the total number of people who were tested in the capital are positive.
Greater controls from the weekend
The Crisis Staff reminded citizens that vaccination against seasonal flu began on October 1 and that vaccines, which are enough for everyone, can be received free of charge in all health centers.
– All those who wanted to be vaccinated at the City Assembly yesterday, and I was among them – Vesić said.
As of this weekend, remember, the controls for the application of epidemiological measures by the joint patrols of the communal militia, the health inspectors of the republic and the Ministry of the Interior will be strengthened.
– Public transport will be controlled separately. However, there is no police who can control every bus, every shop or restaurant. So we have to control ourselves, that is, protect ourselves and others. Everyone knows how hard I have struggled in recent months to ensure that catering services and the economy work, that people earn money, that life flows normally and, at the same time, protect the health of the population. Let’s be responsible next weekend and don’t let everything we have done well so far be ruined – says Vesić.
An appeal to citizens
Crisis personnel emphasize the need to wear masks in public transportation, shopping malls, and all other enclosed spaces. The previous days were colder, the gardens were not working and what is happening now is a consequence of the masks not being used indoors.
We have a weekend ahead of us in good weather where people relax more and the consequences of how we will behave this weekend will be felt by the middle of next week.
– I ask and appeal to all Belgraders, employees in stores, to wear masks indoors. That’s the only way to protect ourselves from the epidemic, not get into the situation we were in in June or March, and have everyone meet someone who is positive for Kovid-19 again. We are going to behave like this, protect ourselves and others until we get a clinically proven vaccine that will allow us to permanently protect ourselves from the virus – said Vesić.
