“The policemen worked selflessly”

“The report to the prosecutor was timely, but there were certain police omissions in the sense that the police officers did their job, so to speak, in a careless, disinterested, slow way. In any case, there was no systemic intention to help Kontić. At some lower level, there is a possibility that individuals have tried, “Rebic said.

He added that Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic immediately ordered the Internal Control Sector to carry out controls on the actions of the police officers.

“The SUK has identified certain omissions,” Rebić said, adding that responsibility for that would come, but that there was no systematic obstruction of the case, nor any willingness from the higher police to help Kontić.

He explained that it took a long time to obtain the recordings and that the police only obtained the recording on September 4, although the incident occurred on August 24.

“It took a relatively long time to get the images, the images arrived on September 4. The video is not under the jurisdiction of the police or city administration, we had to ask the owner of the facility. Also, the search was announced relatively late and someone will reply. ” Rebić said.

As he explained, after checking the recording, the prosecutor insisted that it was a serious bodily injury.

“The main prosecutor requests three days of consultations and on the 7th confirms that the classification of the criminal act of serious bodily injury is maintained,” says Rebić.

Rebic also claimed that the police followed all procedures in this case, but that “they could have acted faster.”
