PRIJEPOLJE – There are rare examples of young people who, once they leave their homeland, return to it. However, Dragana and Aleksandar Varaklić, after finishing their studies, decided that their place in the sun would be the village of Sedobro near Prijepolje, where they were born and raised.

This young married couple is an example of life outside of Belgrade, and their story writes the most beautiful phrases about love, faith and hope. They say they have never regretted it, because nowhere do they get such beautiful mornings as in their alley.

“My husband and I have known each other since childhood and we were neighbors in Sedobr. I lived in Belgrade for five years, I studied there and my husband even worked there after university. When we decided to get married, we made the decision to return to our village, because the lights of the big city still did not attract us enough, and honest and soulful people still live in our area. In the capital, we have never been alone, as is the case here. “Big cities really offer great opportunities, but what is lacking is the commitment to the family, “Dragana told RINA.

Dragana and Aleksandar used their education and youth and started their own production. After seven years since they returned to the village, today they cultivate a farm that extends over six hectares, and there are a thousand plums, 100 pears, but also apples, quinces and walnuts. The best fruits are dried and processed, but they also make innovative products such as prunes with honey and walnuts, apple and quince chips.

“Thanks to the subsidies, our dryer started working in 2016. After the beginner problems, when we mastered the basics of drying plums, we wanted to make some of our original product and we succeeded. Now our goal is for them to reach the market chain, but we have to meet rigorous conditions and standards for that, but we are also working on that. We have expanded the plum orchards and, in addition to the Požega plums, there is now also a Stanley tree from Čačak on our property ” says Aleksandar.

Their descendants Sofia (7) and Vukasin (6) learned all the village jobs from an early age and nothing is difficult for them. The Varaklić family is one of the best examples that a successful business can develop through work and their own investments, and what they have never lacked is ambition.

“We also plan to develop rural tourism, so we will adapt and put into use the old town house that is on our property.” This area really has a lot to offer visitors, Mileseva Monastery, Milesevka River and much more are close by, and what is crucial is the hospitality of the locals, healthy food and clean air. It is very important that the local self-government pay attention to the young people who decided to stay in the field, and we are happy with the newly formed ministry, which we hope will listen to some of our problems and meet our needs, ”said Dragana.

The town of Sedobro is five kilometers from Prijepolje, and for this place they say that Saint Sava once said that “everything is fine” in it, this is how it got its name. And the Varaklić family definitely continues to confirm it.
