The water from the thermo-mineral spring “Jezero” in Vrnjačka Banja, which used to flow in jets, has almost disappeared. The water from this now familiar and healing spring drips, and there were days when the springs were completely dry. The cause is suspected to be a private water park that opened two months ago, not far from the spring.
The “Jezero” spring water is used for therapeutic purposes, for diabetes and the treatment of the urinary tract, but also for rinsing the eyes. The water is called like that. by self-discharge, that is, no pumps are used that would pump water, but the underground gas pushes the water to the surface.
But for almost a month, the water has flowed drop by drop. Many visitors, from all over Serbia, who come to Vrnjacka Banja because of this healing water, are now angry.
There are huge crowds, queues, and verbal conflicts over who is next in line to fill the bottle. While some just shrug their shoulders, others say it all started from the moment the nearby water park began to fill its pools.
Although some short-term tests were carried out on its impact on other sources in the area, it was concluded that the consumption of 2.5 liters per second does not affect the sources “Jezero” and “Slatina”, but in practice it did not. . pool, the influx of water to these two springs decreased, although it affected the source of “Jezero” more than “Slatina”, although it is closer to the water park.
“Just now they have had continuous pumping for a period of about two months. The Faculty of Mining and Geology believes that it was caused by the continuous pumping of water in this water park, which did not happen before. They will probably have to correct those amounts. That is to say, they will have to do it ”. take breaks from using the spring water, “said Božidar Vućković, head of the Legal and Economic Affairs Service of the” Merkur “hospital.
Vuckovic says there is now an eight hour break at the water park every day. Experts from the Faculty of Mining and Geology say that the water level in the “Jezero” spring should gradually return in the coming days.
