BELGRADE – The trial of Marija Jocic, wife of Branko Jocic, former director of the public company “Roads of Serbia”, who was sentenced to five years in prison in September for taking bribes and abuse of power, will begin today before the Special Court of Belgrade .
Marija Jocic is now on trial on money laundering charges.
According to the prosecution, to which Tanjug had access, she falsely presented the facts about the property, although she knew that it originated in the crime of accepting bribes by her husband.
It involves the illegal acquisition of a 63-square-meter apartment in Loznica for Jocic’s mother, Radmila, which was taken from her by a recent verdict.
In September, the Belgrade Court of Appeals sentenced Jocic to five years in prison on charges of taking bribes and abusing his official position during 2006 and 2007 in connection with the remediation of the landslide.
He and 15 other defendants have another procedure before the Special Court on the second accusation of abuses in the company “Roads of Serbia”.
