The Holy Synod of Bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church has decided that Metropolitan Chrysostom of Dabro-Bosnia will assume the functions of the patriarch.

He will carry out that duty until the election of a new patriarch, the Serbian Orthodox Church announced.

The Holy Synod of Bishops elected the Bishop of Umadija, Jovan, as administrator of the Archdiocese of Belgrade and Karlovac, in accordance with article 70 of the Constitution of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

It was decided that e the body of Patriarch Irinej will be exhibited in the Cathedral of the Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade during the Holy Liturgy on the day of the celebration of the Cathedral, November 21, and then transferred to the Church of St. Sava in Vraar, where the faithful will have the opportunity to say goodbye to Patriarch Blaenopoiv.

The Holy Liturgy will be celebrated on Sunday, November 22, 2020 in the Temple of Saint Sava in Vraar, starting at 9 a.m.. In the continuation of the liturgy, a service will be held and the body of the patriarch will be buried in the crypt of the Temple of Saint Sava.
