BOR – A major fire broke out at the Bor copper smelter tonight, with the media claiming that the pipes that carry gases from the smelter to the sulfuric acid factory are on fire.
Firefighters are still on the scene and the fire was located about an hour after midnight. According to the first information, there are no injured workers, reports the website istmedia.rs
The strong smell of plastic is spreading through the city tonight, and the portal discovers that the gases that are felt come from the polyester burned in the pipes.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
At the moment, there are no indications about the amount of damages in the new foundry, for whose construction more than 350 million euros have been allocated from the budget of the republic.
China’s Zidjin did not officially announce it, but employees told the media that due to excessive pollution, copper production was suspended until further notice.
