THE STATE PAYS HALF OF THE POLICIES: The biggest subsidies to small agencies

As “Novosti” finds out, the aid will not be distributed linearly to the agencies, but will receive smaller subsidies, perhaps even 50 percent of the value of the policy. Although the official model is still under development, some travel agency associations consider this proposal unacceptable, because it will not prevent the dismissal of workers and their closure.

Authorities hope that insurance companies will agree to do business with travel agencies when they see the state backing those guarantees. The idea is to help, so that the organizers of the trip obtain licenses and continue working.

– This measure helps insurance companies, not travel agencies, according to the Serbian Association of Travel Agencies and the Association of Independent Travel Agencies of Serbia believe. – Most agencies cannot apply for this assistance because insurers refuse to issue policies or condition them to obtain a deposit or a first-rate mortgage. The smallest agency must have a policy with coverage of 200,000 euros, which requires a guarantee worth 300,000 euros.

While travel agencies point out that the policies offered to them are between 8,000 and 18,000 euros, authorities say that insurance companies have policies of 3,000 euros.
