The start of work on the Central Population Registry has been announced

The Minister of State Administration and Local Self-Government, Marija Obradović, and the Director of the Office of Information Technology and Electronic Administration, Mihailo Jovanović, announced the start of work on the Central Population Register.

According to the corresponding ministry, they asked citizens to verify their data in the registry in the Electronic Government Portal and point out any inaccurate or incomplete data.

Obradovic said it will take time for the data to be verified and for “the system to stabilize from March or April.”

“The goal is for state institutions to start accessing the registry ex officio in the spring, that they always have updated data on citizens and that citizens no longer have to go from counter to counter to update their data in various electronic registries”, is stated in statement.

Jovanovic said that the establishment of a modern electronic government is based on four registries: citizens, economy, real estate and address registry. Asked who is in charge of data security, Jovanovic said that according to the Law of the Central Population Registry, it is defined whose task is, that is, that the Ministry will approve access to the Central Population Registry, and the computer and data security is in the Office of Information Technology and Electronic Administration.

“We have enabled citizens to obtain parameters for their electronic identity quickly, easily and free of charge at more than 360 locations in Serbia, and the list of locations is available on the e-government portal,” said the Director of the Office. IT and e-government.
