Prosecutor Srdjan Jovanovic requested that the son of Serbian businessman MS (17) be sentenced to juvenile prison for causing a maritime accident in Budva in which Maja Sljivancanin died and her fiancé Vladimir Stanisic was injured.

According to Montenegrin media, the defense of the Ministry of Justice proposed that the 17-year-old be sentenced to an educational measure of strict supervision in accordance with the recommendations of the professional services that evaluated his personality and psychological state.

This was said today in the Kotor Court of First Instance during the final arguments in the case of the maritime accident that occurred on July 11, when a small speedboat in the Budva aquarium collided with the boat in which Sljivancanin and Stanisic were .

Judge Momirka Tesic Marovic has scheduled a verdict in this case for Monday.

Before presenting its final arguments, the Prosecutor modified the factual description of the accusation in the part related to the occurrence of the maritime accident. He specified that the contact between the boat led by the minor and the boat driven by Stanišić occurred in the middle of the boat.

He kept the other charges under the indictment and asked the court to sentence the accused MS to juvenile prison.

On the other hand, the defense noted that the responsibility for causing the maritime accident, in addition to the minor MS, also rests with the behavior of Vladimir Stanišić, who operated the ship on which the now deceased Sljivančanin was located.

The lawyers referred to the conclusion of the maritime traffic expert Aleksandar Božović, who states that, in addition to the skipper of the yacht “Sea Ray Sundancer 395”, a 17-year-old EM from Belgrade, Vladimir Stanišić, who operated the ship, also contributed to the accident. and it did not meet international standards. about avoiding collisions at sea.

Stanisic also failed to comply with Rule 15, which stipulates that when the courses of two mechanically propelled boats cross in such a way that there is a danger of a collision, the boat that sees the other on its right side will be removed from the road without crossing. the heading in front of the bow of that ship. .

Likewise, the analysis of the damage to the ship BD-213 that hit the yacht, as well as the VTMIS recordings, showed that Vladimir Stanišić did not observe the navigation area and did not take the action of stopping or turning to the right when the object was approaching to his right.

Lawyers Vuleković and Begović proposed to the court that the seventeen-year-old defendant be sentenced to a strictly supervised educational measure that would achieve the objective of the sanction.

The defense explained this proposal due to the fact that MS visited a psychologist after the accident, who stated that it was not useful to separate this minor from the environment in which he resides, because this would negatively affect his development and personality.

The psychologist also pointed out that the purpose of punishing this minor would be achieved with an educational measure.

The defense recalled that the psychologist affirmed that the MS came from a functional and complete family, until this fact he behaved in an exemplary manner and showed remorse for the incident in which Sljivancanin was murdered.

The brother and fiancé of the late Maja Sljivancanin joined the criminal prosecution of the minor MS and filed a claim for damages, but did not specify the amount.
