He was first registered with the police in 1964, as an assailant. In the following years, he was often arrested primarily for petty crimes – scratching cars, threats, fighting, theft of bags, and later convicted of three rapes.

In 1967, in a fight at the Faculty of Technology, he severely beat the student Vladimir Vuckovic, so that out of fear of the police, he fled to Austria for the first time and then to Italy.

In the 1970s he lived in Western Europe, where he was involved in robberies and extortion. He was murdered by Goran Vukovic, aka Monkey, in front of the Frankfurt District Court in 1986, and was buried in the Zemus Cemetery, where a life-size monument was erected to him.

What remains a mystery today is the disappearance of the commemorative plaque on which the song was written in his honor.

Ljubo Zemunac’s funeral was one of the most important in the history of Belgrade. Legend has it that “hardening” your head with a glove at the Ljubo Zemunac monument guarantees that you will become a dangerous guy from the asphalt.

Stories have been written about Ljuba, legends have been told, and even songs have been written. He will be remembered as the ancestor of a way of life that will be accepted in the FRY in the 1990s.
