The brutal beating of a young man (28) in Novi Sad alarmed the residents of this city, but also the general public, when a shocking video of violence began to circulate on social media. However, this is not the first time that someone “out of sheer peace” has been beaten.

The latest case occurred on August 24 in the center of Novi Sad. The thug Ivan Kontić (30), otherwise the head of casino security, whom the police are intensively searching for, and there are also reports that he fled to Montenegro, broke both hands of the unconscious young man and inflicted serious bodily injury.

The beaten young man was admitted to the Vojvodina Clinical Hospital Center on August 24, and from this health institution they announced yesterday that he was discharged for home treatment.

More than 100 hits in seven minutes

Three years ago, in January 2017, a gendarmerie agent, Boris Jevrosimov, was brutally beaten, together with his wife, by two attackers. He received more than 100 hits in seven minutes, as well as a gunshot wound to the hand.

That January night on Kisacka Street in Novi Sad, the gendarme and his wife were attacked by Igor Petrovic (38) and Nenad Curcic (35), who were later sentenced to just two years in prison. Namely, Boris and his wife went to Kumačka Street to have dinner with their godparents around 10 pm and saw two “suspicious characters” sitting in a car parked in front of the entrance. When he and his wife were returning from the godparents about two hours after midnight, he saw the same people sitting in the car and suspected that they had stayed in the same place for so long.

He continued with his wife, and Petrović and Ćurčić, seeing that he was looking at them, started yelling at him: “What’s wrong? Is there a problem?” and they got out of the car and headed towards Boris.

They started stealing Boris’s gun and beating him. When the shot was heard, Boris regained his strength, grabbed the gun by the barrel and shoved the holster into it. The attacker tried to test the weapon, but was unsuccessful because he obviously did not know that the trigger was jammed that way, and that saved Boris and his wife’s lives, Boris’ colleagues previously told “Blic.”

Upon hearing the shooting, neighbors alerted the police, who rushed to the scene and arrested the attackers, and the ambulance transported the injured Boris and his wife to the Emergency Center, where they were found to have serious bodily injuries.

Boris’s wife was diagnosed with a broken arm and foot injuries with numerous bruises, and the brave police officer was diagnosed with a gunshot wound with numerous bruises. As determined, the bullet tore the tendons and ligaments in her hand, and Boris was admitted to the Orthopedic Clinic, where doctors are still fighting to save her finger.
