The remains of Metropolitan Amfilohije were transferred to Podgorica

The remains of the deceased metropolitan of Montenegro and the coastline, Amfilohije, were prayed today in the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Podgorica, where they were transferred from the Cetinje Monastery.

A large number of believers from all over Montenegro sent the remains of the Cetinje Monastery. The Church Township President Rajko Radusinović said goodbye to Metropolitan Amfilohije on behalf of the Cetinje people.

From the entrance to Podgorica from the direction of Cetinje to the Cathedral in the center of the city, a column of cars with the body of the metropolitan was received by a large number of believers.

Metropolitan Amfilohije passed away yesterday and will be buried tomorrow in the crypt of the Podgorica Cathedral. His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Irinej will serve at the requiem liturgy.

The Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Litoral stated that they are waiting for a contribution from the state authorities to fire one of the most eminent archbishops of the former Zeta and Montenegrin episcopate of San Sava, as well as the entire Christian world.

“Aware of the general health situation, but also of the great respect that Metropolitan Amfilohije enjoys, we call on the participants to adhere to all prescribed sanitary measures,” said the Metropolitan.

Tomorrow’s funeral will be attended by the Serbian member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Milorad Dodik, the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, the high delegation of the Government of Serbia, the Serbian academic Matija Beckovic, Novak Djokovic and a large number of public figures from Serbian and diaspora countries.

A large number of journalists from the country, the region and the world have been accredited.
