Asked whether the possibility of introducing curfews and restricting circulation was ruled out, she replied that all the measures “revolve” around the use of masks and physical distance that are sufficiently effective, but in the event that everyone applies them.
– All other measures, shortening the working hours of the facilities, prohibiting the meetings of a certain number of people are measures that support these basic ones. We will see what the situation will be and what measures will be taken, but at this time we have not considered the possibility, nor have we thought about closure and rigorous measures – said Kisić Tepavčević.
He added that some countries are turning to it again, pointing out that it is an extreme measure. According to her, such a measure had an effect at the beginning of the epidemic in Serbia, because the oldest ones were preserved, which later proved to be the most responsible, and in the meantime the state did not sit idly by, but tests, respirators were acquired and hospital capabilities.
– A lot has been done in all that time because it was obvious that a strong virus attack would occur – added Darija Kisić Tepavčević.
He pointed out that at this time, the capacity of the health system has been strengthened in relation to the beginning, however, that does not mean that the measures should not be applied. He says that it is still unknown how long immunity lasts after the disease, because the virus has been present for less than a year, but that there have been situations in which someone has been sick more than twice, although these are sporadic cases, but they have occurred .
– Therefore, all people who have had an infection must continue to protect themselves – stated Kisić Tepavčević.
He added that the situation in Serbia is better at the moment compared to many countries, but that this should not console anyone, because, he says, an increase in the number of infected people has been noticed in recent days.
– Different countries are in different phases. We had a more difficult situation in the previous period – stated Kisić Tepavčević, adding that from the beginning it was shown that the virus is spreading “as much as we allow it”.
He stressed that the frequency of diseases is proportional to the application of preventive measures.
– These measures save lives. We have to understand that. All measurements boil down to the basics, the use of masks and physical distance. Their role was not understood at first, and experience negated theories that masks do not protect, Kisić Tepavčević said.
Wearing masks outdoors in Serbia, he says, is just a recommendation, because it is not the same situation if someone is with their family outdoors or on a busy street where there are a lot of people. He added that yesterday’s data shows that 40 percent of patients are between 20 and 40 years old. Unfortunately, that, he says, then spreads within the podorice.
– That is a rule that we have been discovering in the last weeks. This epidemic has been going on for a long time, sadly, its end is not yet visible and we are all tired of viruses and this way of life, but what there is. We cannot just sit idly by and relax, we must respect the measures – said Kisić Tepavčević.
He concluded that citizens are not only observers, but that they respect the situation with the virus by respecting the measures.
