Police arrested two people who tried to withdraw 50,000 euros from the deceased’s bank account, the Interior Ministry announced. As announced, the police arrested ND (31) and DP (39) immediately after they committed that crime at the bank branch.
The police suspect that ND with a forged identity card under another name, together with DP, who also presented himself falsely, announced to bank officials that he had received a power of attorney from the deceased to withdraw 50,000 euros from his account in foreign currency.
After verifying identity, bank employees determined that the customer who approved the power of attorney passed away.
ND and DP went to the branch and, with a forged identity card and a power of attorney, submitted a request to withdraw the money, after which they were immediately arrested.
They were ordered to be detained for up to 48 hours, after which they will be taken to the First Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade, along with a criminal complaint.
