The Balkan Stream gas pipeline, which was put into operation by Serbian President Aleksandar Vuiu on Friday, is running without any technical problems.

For now, it serves to supply the domestic market, the Ministry of Mines and Energy told Tanjug.
When the compressor stations are up and running this year, the pipeline will operate at full capacity and will be able to supply customers in Hungary and Austria, according to the ministry.
They point out that, according to the information available to the ministry, there are currently no visible technical problems in the operation of the pipeline and that the pressure in the pipeline is satisfactory.
Balkan Stream’s average daily consumption is around eight million cubic meters of gas per day, but due to the higher daily temperature, consumption of about six million cubic meters is expected today.
On January 1, President Vui put the Balkan Stream gas pipeline into operation in Gospoinci, near Ablje, the length of the route through Serbia from the Bulgarian to the Hungarian border is 403 kilometers.
He stressed that the new gas pipeline has ensured energy stability and security in Serbia, which is important to attract new investors.
