Andrej Prekljušaj (12) and Dejana Ilić (48), both from Niš, were killed when NS (19) from Belgrade collided with an “Audi” at high speed. The boy and Ilic, who is, incidentally, the father of three and the leader of the Sloga union, died of serious injuries, while the driver was detained.
The tragedy occurred on Monday around 8.40 pm on Median Boulevard. According to the first information, NS was driving three girls.
– “Audi” was moving at high speed after the downpour, believed to have supposedly hit 180 kilometers per hour! The car skidded on a wet road, veered onto the curb, and struck pedestrians. Due to the force of the blow, the boy flew behind the fence into the courtyard of “Vodovod” and remained dead at the scene, while Ilić died at the Clinical Center in Niš, a source from the investigation told Kurir.
The boy’s mother, who arrived at the scene of the accident, foresaw the tragedy, because at that moment the little one went to a nearby store to buy a battery charger and dog food. She did not know that he had been killed and went looking for him because he had not returned home.
The boy’s grandmother, Ljiljana Kostadinović, says her grandson went shopping. – He went to buy puzzles on Sunday. The night before last I told him not to go because it was starting to rain. Said, “I’ll be there in 20 minutes.” You certainly didn’t see that lunatic who, when he hit them, I heard, he came back two or three times because he was driving some girls. I also heard that some citizens called the police in the previous days because a madman was driving through the city. And then he hit my grandson and a man who was walking on the sidewalk – says the desperate Ljiljana and adds:
– My daughter Vesna sensed it exactly, she started crying. I went there, a policewoman called an ambulance. My daughter sat on the cement and cried, she is currently on medication, says Grandma Ljiljana

Sandra Rajković, a lawyer for the arrested NS, says it is too early to draw conclusions. – They visited Nis as a family to celebrate the New Year. They were supposed to go to Belgrade yesterday, but they stayed another day. He didn’t even see pedestrians, because he probably hit them with the back of the car, because his car slipped due to a lot of water on the road, says Rajković.
NS lived in Mirijevo as a child and neighbors explain that the family moved to another part of the settlement. – Her mother is the elderly Mirijevka and her father is Nishlija, the state of the neighbors.

Dejan Ilić (48), the commissioner of the United Serbia Sloga unions for southern Serbia and the president of the Sloga union in a factory, died in this accident.
– The workers were shocked because a wonderful man, father of three children, was killed, who was walking on the sidewalk and was picked up by a citizen of Belgrade who came here to earn a living. Everybody says he drove through the streets of Nis like crazy for a few days – says a colleague. – Dejan was a great man, a great fighter, an excellent trade unionist, a good friend and collaborator. He is the father of three wonderful children – say the trade unionists.
