Vesi adds that the end of the arrangement of the temple and the plateau itself is a historic moment for the nation.
Vesi recalled that the Temple of Saint Sava was recently visited by Serbian President Aleksandar Vui and Serbian Patriarch Irinej when it was announced that the completion of the internal arrangement would take place this year.
“The construction of the Temple of San Sava began in 1935, and the idea was born in 1895, which means that it took us more than 120 years from the idea and 85 years from inception to completion. Most of it was done thanks to the president of Serbia Aleksandar Vui and the great effort of Patriarch Irinej. The temple will be unique in many respects in the world, “the deputy mayor told TV Pink.
He pointed out that it is necessary to arrange the Svetosavski plateau next to the temple, which is very important and becomes a park, so the City of Belgrade made a decision according to which the Temple of St. Sava will be dominant.
“The San Sava Park is very important because, next to the temple, there is the National Library, a small church of San Sava, and in the future a new building of the Patriarchate must be built here. We have a huge work ahead, but we will do everything we said., we are fulfilling it and we have left it for centuries, “said the deputy mayor.
Chief urban planner Marko Stoji announced that works to fix the plateau will be completed next year, emphasizing that the works are extensive.

Currently, the first phase of the reconstruction of the plateau is underway, which consists of paving some 8,000 square meters of the church door with marble of the highest quality. According to him, works of the highest quality are being carried out and one of the contractors is the “Zelenilo – Belgrade” Public Service Company, which can carry out such an important project.
The chief urban planner thanked the architects – professors Branislav Mitrovic and Dejan Miljkovic, who prepared the conceptual design and documentation for the project.
“This is a very good architectural project that will completely change the environment and the view of the space. We have managed to introduce a lot of trees, a space plateau for believers, demonstrations and events that will take place here, as well as a part for flats, ”concluded Stoji. .
