In the last 24 hours, 7,276 people were tested for the corona virus in Serbia, while 1,907 of them tested positive.

Unfortunately, 38 people died.

There are 276 patients on ventilators in hospitals across Serbia.

This is a slight decrease in the number of newly infected and deceased compared to yesterday’s report. Yesterday, 9,282 people were tested for the corona virus, while 2,074 of them tested positive. 39 people died while 283 patients wore respirators in Serbian hospitals.

Srdja Jankovic, a member of the crisis staff, said that no significant improvement could be spoken of as long as the hospitals were full. Janković emphasized that the pressure on the healthcare system has notably eased, but that this should not lead us to relax now.

– The fact that the numbers are lower than in previous weeks is favorable, but that is partly the effect of the holidays, because people decide to go to the doctor less often and therefore there is less evidence – said Janković.

He added that an important parameter is that there is a smaller decrease in the number of hospitalized.

The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Mirsad Đerlek, said today that a decision will be made on Monday on when and from which cities the vaccination with Sputnik V.

Djerlek expects another 20,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine on January 4-5, up from a total of 78,000 in January.

“In January, we expect large quantities of Sputnik V vaccine and Chinese Sinofarm vaccine in the second half of the month,” said Djerlek.
