Belgrade – Since July this year, 56 new UAZ brand off-road vehicles are an integral part of the Serbian army vehicle fleet.

With the purchase of new UAZ Patriot off-road motor vehicles, the security of the Serbian army members has been raised to a higher level, as well as the operational capabilities of the units in which they are deployed, the Ministry of Defense announced.
These non-combat passenger vehicles are primarily intended for Military Police and Ground Forces units. During the recruitment, the price-quality ratio, the budgetary possibilities, but above all the needs of the Serbian army, which was last equipped with vehicles of this type in 2006, were taken into account, is indicated on the website of the Ministry of Defending.

The acquisition of UAZ “Patriot” cars has significantly increased the reliability of off-road vehicles used in the Serbian army, that is, the safety of members of the army during the performance of daily tasks. In addition, the fill level of army units with off-road vehicles was raised and the vehicle fleet was significantly renewed.
The vehicles delivered to the Serbian army are modern and their characteristics contribute to maintaining and improving the operational capabilities of the units that will use them.

The maximum performance of the UAZ “Patriot” off-road vehicle is reflected in the powerful power unit (150 hp) and advanced construction solutions that allow movement at a maximum speed of 140 km /, or a speed of 40 km / on terrain with a slope of 6 to 9%. The vehicle has four-wheel drive, five doors and can seat up to five people.

The new vehicles of the Serbian army are equipped with devices to increase walkability, so that they can be used off-road. With all-wheel drive, there is the possibility of using the vehicle in low gears. Basically, these SUVs are intended to increase the mobility of Serbian army units and furthermore they are important for the safety of military road traffic and improve the average age of this class of vehicles in Serbian army units.

By the end of October this year, it is planned to deliver eight more special UAZ vehicles to the Serbian army, which will be used to transport service dogs.
The acquired UAZ “Patriot” off-road motor vehicles will be deployed in battalions, companies and platoons and will be based on military and police tasks such as the protection of the security of certain persons and foreign military delegations, the security of the traffic of military convoys and transportation of dangerous goods, military traffic control, traffic recognition, providing assistance to the Traffic Police of the Ministry of the Interior in accordance with the law, for patrol service and other matters of the Military Police.
