As H1 finds out, the new head of the Novi Sad Police Department is the former Deputy Director of Police, Slobodan Malešić.

Police Director Vladimir Rebić recently stated that in the case of the brutal beating of a young man in Novi Sad, the police carried out all the necessary procedures, but that “it could have been done faster”, and that omissions identified by certain police officers at a lower level. The previous head of the Novi Sad police was Milorad Šušnjić.

Let’s remember, a video appeared on social networks showing how an unknown young man brutally beats another man, and then, while lying unconscious on the ground, he breaks his arms. The police identified Montenegrin citizen Ivan Kontić as the main suspect.

Novi Sad police arrested two people, on suspicion of helping Kontić.

The Novi Sad Chief Prosecutor’s Office announced that it was launched an investigation against Kontić on September 12 for the crime of attempted homicide, after the MUP PU Novi Sad filed a criminal complaint.

The Interior Ministry announced that the police informed the Novi Sad General Prosecutor’s Office about the case of beating a man on Jevrejska Street on August 24, as soon as they received a report from the Vojvodina Clinical Center.
