Three years after the heinous crime in Dusseldorf, when a German of Serbian origin, Milenko T. (62), was killed, the case received an epilogue with the arrest of her son (49). Milenka’s body was found dismembered in the basement of the building where she lived, and her son was arrested on the border with Croatia.
The disappearance of Milenka T. (62) was reported by her family in April 2017. Suddenly, on May 4, a person close to Milenka found her body in the basement of the Kolner Landerstase building, writes “Bild”.
German media wrote that investigators were also shocked by the horrible scene they found in the basement, as Milenka’s body was beheaded and dismembered.
This news resonated in the German media, especially since the building in which he lived was located in a relatively quiet area, and only tenants who had the key could reach the basement.
Neighbors didn’t know much about Milenka, but they knew that she was originally from the Balkans, that she had lived in Germany for many years, that she had a family even though she lived alone in that building. The mother has two children and had a superficial and neighborly relationship with other neighbors.
The police immediately formed a special team to investigate the murder of “Land”, on whose radar was one of the murdered woman’s children. However, the suspect had already traveled from Germany to Serbia at the time, making it difficult to collect evidence and significantly slowing down the investigation. Only in spring 2018 will the Düsseldorf District Court issue an international Interpol warrant.
However, despite the arrest warrant, Serbia did not extradite the suspect until he made a mistake: he tried to cross the border into Croatia in January 2020. He was handcuffed immediately after crossing the border and his extradition was ordered. In June of this year, members of Land’s special team transferred him from Croatia to Dusseldorf.
“He has denied in court hearings several times before that he had anything to do with his mother’s murder, and fought extradition to Germany by all legal means,” said a German police official on the occasion of his arrest.
According to the indictment, it is suspected that the Serb sentenced his mother to sleep. To make it easier for him to hide his body, he dismembered it and took it to the basement, where it was later found. As a reason, family disputes that have been raging for years are mentioned. The proceedings before the Dusseldorf regional court will start in December.
