– It has always been above everyone and above everything, that’s why it will continue like this. The Americans will not be able to take it away for one ball. He climbed too high to be dragged to the ground.
Is there something good in this shameful story?
– Watching the broadcast to the end, I was glad that Novak did not protest against that questionable decision of the organizers. He accepted all these reproaches more to himself, probably angry at himself for giving them the slightest opportunity to do what they had done to him. It is obvious that our greatest tennis player of all time must be perfect to survive.
Did this all end as a national tragedy?
– Our world does not really understand tennis, nor is it our national sport. But our world saw its matches as squares in which we liked to see ourselves as we would look when we collided with one against one in those conflicts. I am convinced that our Novak will come out of everything even stronger, Matija Bećković has it clear.
