As of today, His Holiness is also cared for by doctors who arrived from Russia, who keep the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church under constant professional supervision.
– The Permanent Council of Doctors, in the presence of Russian doctors, reviewed His Holiness and inspected the laboratory analyzes carried out during the morning, concluded that this morning’s deterioration was a consequence of Kovid 19 and that the health of Patriarch Irinej was complex but stable – a statement signed by the hospital commander Dr. Ivo Udovicic.
According to unofficial information, the patriarch’s condition has drastically worsened around 3.50. The medical fight for his life lasted until noon, when his condition stabilized somewhat. The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church had serious heart problems, which also plagued his exhausted body from the fight against the corona virus.

The patriarch’s condition worsened in the afternoon, he was intubated and put on a respirator. This was also confirmed by the President of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
– Thank God he’s alive – said Vučić. – Doctors fight for the life of the patriarch. Goran Stevanović is in the red zone. They try to turn it left and right, to produce drainage.
He noted that it is difficult to predict anything except praying to God, and emphasized that the patriarch indebted Serbia and the entire Serbian people with his good works.
– The prognosis is unpleasant – told “Novosti” a source close to the team of doctors who treat the patriarch.
SILENCE IN FRONT OF THE HOSPITAL
DESPITE the dramatic news coming from the “Karaburma” Military Medical Center, there was an apparent peace in front of its doors. As always, medical vehicles arrived at the entrance, and in the afternoon a military jeep and two black limousines were sighted, in which, according to unofficially heard, there were also dignitaries of the church. The soldiers on duty and their officers did not want to tell the numerous journalists, gathered in front of the hospital, about the atmosphere inside the facility.
The aggravating factors, as explained to us, are the extremely complex cardiac picture and Irinej’s last years. It is connected to the devices and has all the necessary medical attention.
Church circles even heard the news that the patriarch had lost the battle against disease. This information was also posted on certain church websites, and was unofficially confirmed among church leaders. Church bells rang in some temples in Serbia.
RUSSIAN DOCTORS
Until yesterday, two Russian doctors, whose task is to take care of the health of the head of the Serbian Orthodox Church, have been working to help the doctors of the “Karaburma” Military Hospital. These are the leading epidemiologists with extensive experience treating covid patients. Together with the Serbian team led by Dr. Ivo Udovicic, they determine the therapy and monitor Irinej’s bed day and night.
The Patriarchate denied the news of His Holiness’s death, noting that his status remained unchanged in relation to the announcement of the medical council.
– We invite everyone to pray for the health of our patriarch and to be informed about his state of health from the official announcements of the Council of Doctors and on the official website of the SOC Information Service – it is stated in the denial of the Patriarchate of the SOC.
ATANASIJE MILESEVSKI HEALED
The Bishop of Mileševo, Atanasije Rakita, was fired from the KBC “Dragiša Mišović”, where he had been receiving treatment for the covid since November 8. He was first treated in Prijepolje and Uzice, and later transferred to Belgrade due to the severity of his illness. His condition is good and he left the hospital because he tested negative.
Patriarch Irinej has been receiving treatment at the Kovid Military Hospital in Karaburma since November 5, when he was preventively hospitalized after a kovid control test. The head of the Serbian Orthodox Church initially did not have any characteristic crown symptoms, only to reveal a worsening of his chronic heart failure. It came to light especially in the night between Saturday and Sunday, when the patriarch came out of his critical condition with timely therapy and the reaction of a doctor.
