Musician Ilija Markovic, when drugs were found when he and actor Branko Vidakovic were arrested on July 17, asked today in the High Court of Belgrade the exemption of his lawyer Sava Stevanovic.
“I am asking for the lawyer’s exemption because he cared more about my wife than about me and the case. He was not interested in my case, he brought some messages, he justified himself by corresponding with his wife,” Markovic continued, adding:
“I am guilty and sorry.”
After this presentation, the lawyer took the floor.
“I have no relationship with his wife,” Stevanovic began, but the judge cut him off and said he was not interested in the relationship with the defendant’s wife.
The court will assign a new lawyer to Markovic ex officio, “because there is no relationship of trust,” so the trial has been postponed.
The procedures are separate, because Vidaković entered into an agreement with the Belgrade High Prosecutor’s Office, under which he must serve six months of house arrest with a nanny and go to drug addiction treatment.
